Goals...
Toastmasters International in
order to be the undisputed
expert in leadership and
communication skills throughout
the world, will require
discipline, focus and goals to
meet present and future needs of
our members and organization.
The magic begins when we set
SMART goals - goals that are
Specific, Measurable,
Achievable, Relevant
and Time-bound. This TI
has done:
·
Have a clear vision of TI’s
purpose -- build a roadmap to
the future.
·
Have in place the right
governance processes and
structure for a growing
international organization.
·
Be closely aligned with the
future operating environment of
TI in order to be more
strategically focused, relevant,
nimble and attractive to future
volunteers.
To meet these goals, TI is
looking at three levels: the
international level, support at
the regional level and the
district level.
On the International level, the
Board generated a list of issues
that our organization faces now
and will face in the future.
The role of the Board is to
guide the development of
strategy to address those
issues.
On the Regional level, the Board
is recommending that the
regional structure that has
served North America so well
should be expanded to provide
for regions worldwide.
On the District level, the Board
is reviewing the District
structure realizing that it is
increasingly less common for
volunteers to move through all
top three district offices. The
Board proposes that the focus
needs to shift to developing
leaders who can effectively lead
multi-disciplined teams without
necessarily being expert in each
discipline.
As you can see, the work for our
Board will not be an easy one.
Thus your vote for the best
candidate needs to be one based
on ability and commitment. My
goal as International Director
is to help our organization to
meet its goals, serve with
integrity; commit my time and
energy; be an effective speaker
and trainer; be open-minded; and
be the best ambassador for
Toastmasters International,
Region VII and you.
